Amber Benediction
Faction: Flesh-Eater Courts
Designation: Occupying force; ritual custodians
Known Location: Waystation of the First Age
Behavioral Pattern: Preservation through liturgical violence
The Amber Benediction is a Flesh-Eater Court warband currently holding the Waystation of the First Age. Their behavior centers on ritual maintenance and spatial control. Unlike most Court groups, the Amber Benediction does not pursue expansion, consumption, or territorial spread. Instead, they remain within the boundaries of the Waystation and enforce a consistent pattern of site stewardship.
Warband members refer to themselves as keepers, stewards, or torch-bearers. They maintain fixed patrol paths through the Waystation, clean architectural surfaces, and perform repeated gestures of worship before key structures. The group uses bone ash, gilded bloodmarks, and fungal resin in its rites. These acts follow a clear internal logic and remain consistent across observed individuals.
The warband interprets all intrusion as violation of a sacred threshold. Engagements begin with recitation or song and typically end in full dismemberment of the target group. Recovered phrases suggest the belief that each body fuels or repairs the site. The dead are arranged near vents, conduits, or carved glyphwork and are not removed. This behavior has been repeated across multiple incursions.
Members of the Court describe the Waystation as a remnant of the First Light. Their language treats the structure as a functioning sacred node, not a ruin. They do not acknowledge decay, nor do they modify the site beyond what they call preservation. When questioned or observed from a distance, their speech patterns remain consistent. No signs of internal collapse or fragmentation have been recorded.
No warband has successfully displaced the Amber Benediction. Attempts to cohabitate have ended in immediate rejection. Their control of the site remains stable, and their understanding of its structure appears to exceed that of any outside group.
The site itself remains active only in fragments. Whether the Amber Benediction maintains this partial function or simply benefits from it has not been determined.
