Sundrown Wilds: Narrative Event - "Of Ash and Memory"
What we call endings, the Wilds call beginnings—and they choose which to keep.
A few years ago, Fell Nyroth from Tome of Champions 2021 was one of the best ways to run a day of narrative Warcry. It was a lightweight format where players:
Brought a 1000-point warband,
Played three linked games, and
Didn’t have to manage injuries, territories, or complex tracking between rounds.
It's still easy to recommend, but these days, the book is hard to find, and Fell Nyroth was written for 1st edition (even if it doesn’t take much to adapt it).
Of Ash and Memory is a fresh event for Second Edition. The story is different. The mechanics are updated. But the core idea is simple: your warband is already dead. The battles you fight are fading memories; each one a version of how the end might be remembered.
Each player brings a 1000-point matched play warband. Over three rounds, you’ll fight to shape the memory of your death, choosing secret agendas along the way. Scoring is simple and fast, based on wins, draws, losses, and the agendas you complete. I've also added an optional escalation module if your group wants to see warbands evolve slightly across games, with wild dice bonuses, minor artifacts, and new traits pulled from the Wilds themselves. (This was an official tournament format in 1e that never quite made it to 2e.)
