Yra Tenebral
Classification: Resin-coated figures with partial Sylvaneth features
Origin: Human cult, presumed extinct
Common Locations: Southern Sundrown Wilds, particularly near sealed groves and abandoned ritual sites
Allegiance: Unconfirmed
Yra Tenebral refers to a group of humanoid figures frequently mistaken for Sylvaneth, though they show no signs of spiritual alignment or grove affiliation. According to scattered accounts, they were once members of a human cult that attempted a self-consuming ritual in the deeper Wilds. The intention was to erase themselves completely. The process halted mid-way, leaving their bodies preserved in black resin and partially overgrown with bark and symbolic foliage.
Since that event, these figures have been observed moving through the Wilds in small groups. They do not speak or interact with others, but neither have they engaged in acts of aggression unless directly challenged. Although their movements appear purposeless, they show familiarity with older paths and overgrown clearings. Some groups report seeing them pass through areas watched by forest spirits without interference, though no consistent pattern has been established.
Their tools resemble ceremonial weapons, many of which appear unchanged since their initial transformation. No growth markers have been identified, and no new individuals have been recorded across the handful of documented sightings. Despite their Sylvaneth-like appearance, there has been no indication of soulpod activity, seasonal behavior, or communication with any known forest entity.
The name “Yra Tenebral” has persisted through rumor and repetition, though its exact origin remains uncertain. Whether it is a remnant of the cult’s original belief system or a designation applied later by others is unknown.
Though rarely seen, these figures have become a point of confusion for both Sylvaneth and mortal factions, occupying a space between recognition and refusal. Whatever their intended purpose, they continue to move through the forest, unchanged and largely unacknowledged.
